The book cover was the reason I picked this book, and the title. It felt intriguing and as I hadn't read anything by this author I dived in and then absolutely loved it! It's a really lovely, sunny read. I loved the characters. The way Lois starts off in this dull and boring tech life, where food doesn't matter and then gets transformed by keeping this live culture going to make beautiful, wholesome bread. In a weird way it reminded me of Little Shop of Horrors, in the way that you have to keep feeding the dough and it reacts in all sorts of weird ways depending on what you do to it. It also made me want to immediately go away and make bread! A funny, magical read with a clever twist at the end.
