Lois is very likeable, learning how to care for her sourdough starter whilst a fledgling romance hatches in the background during her correspondence with the original owner of the starter. The story of the origins of the starter unfolds and its character also shines through, it is a living, breathing thing! We follow Lois as she learns to bake bread and build ovens, but it is the starter that is key to this, and it must be cared for. Then there is the robot arm that Lous trains as her assistant.
Was an easy read, all of the characters were engaging and believable. Vivid descriptions of places builds a picture in the mind, especially the ubdeground market. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable read.
