S.T.A.G.S has a very interesting and intriguing opening three chapters, all of which drag you into the story and into the life of the main character: Greer. Every chapter starts with a simple or one-line sentence, which is quite unique way to start a chapter, which I haven't seen done before in any novels. The jacket cover is very dark and gloomy, which might make it hard to miss on a book shelf amongst the other colourful novels. However as a fan of these genre, I'd personally want to pick up this book and have a read of the blurb.

When reading the first chapter the opening liner - 'I think I might be a murderer', it instantly caught my attention and made me want to read on, seeking to find out why the character feels that way. The first few pages I was very interested, as we got a collection of the charters thoughts. Then we get introduced to STAGs and this is where I started to loose my interest. Personally I felt that there was so much backstory to take in, that I couldn't focus my whole attention onto it. I'm not a big fan of huge description and backstory all in one go, I liked to be slowly introduced into it and revealing more about the character little by little.

Going onto chapter two you are told about another character and you are also presented with a bit of foreshadowing. You learn that this character is dead, which leaves you thinking what has happened for this event to occur. However sadly once again I feel there's no progress in the story and it's just introducing all the characters which will later be involved in the story (I assume). Therefore I found chapter two quite dull, as it was just a list of characters and their description, rather than the main character talking and being introduced to these other characters.

Finally chapter three where I finally learnt some new information: there's three 'murderers'. As well as this there was a story development (at last), which actually was very intriguing and captivated me as a reader. The ending left me wanting more, which lead me to think that's maybe chapter four wouldn't just be description or introduction of characters. Overall I believe this novel has the potential to be very interesting and may developed into a best sellers. I want to find out what actually happens at this event and why they are calling themselves murderer, etc. Personally I think I would purchase this novel and if it was good, I'd certainly recommend it to others.
