I have been waiting for ages to read S.T.A.G.S., which is probably why I was a little disappointed by it. I think I just built it up a little too much. I'm always a fan of academia based stories, so I did enjoy the setup, and the dark mystery aspect was really good. I can't quite put my finger on what bothered me, but I think it was mostly the narrator. I didn't really like her, and I felt like she got in the way of the story for me.

The conspiracy/cult aspect was very exciting, and I think if that had come into play a little earlier in the story I would have latched onto the book a bit more. I was also really niggled by silly things, like the refrain of Huntin' Shootin' Fishin' - like, that's what the invitation said they were going to do, it wasn't an event title, and yet they the characters said it over and over and over again, as if it was "a thing", and that just started to drive me a little mad by the end. Anyhow.

I haven't yet decided whether or not I will read book two, we shall see.
