This book started off boring to the point where I was questioning whether to keep reading or throw it back on the shelf for another time, however once it gets to a certain point it turns round and quickly becomes more interesting. The book was packed with film references, which might be good for some people but just confused me (and also has minor spoilers at some points). The main character seemed a little boring and was hard to relate to, and the other characters were all very exaggerated stereotypes. I was expecting a semi-realistic book but this is definitely more of a fantasy. The ending is also a little disappointing: seems as though the author ran out of things to write about so had to shove in an extra unnecessary section.
