I so wanted to like this book..it's an interesting premise, but just didn't cut it. For starters the ending is given away at the beginning..not a problem if the plot twists in between are clever enough to keep you guessing HOW you reach the end, but this just wasn't..it was a predictable path up to the end. And that leads to my next problem..the heroine, a working class comprehensive girl thrust into the world of the wealthy elite via a scholarship to a prestigious public school. So she's gotta be some kind of genius, right? or have even a teeny tiny bit of common sense to see what's happening? Well, she isn't. And she's also got a habit of questioning things so that the author can explain what they mean more simply..that suggests the author is 'dumbing down' for her readers, illustrated by the film mentions as if to say 'if you need help imagining it go watch this'..but many of those will go over the heads of her target YA readers. Didn't live up to its promise sadly.
