What can I say about this book? I definitely loved the plot of the book! It was different to any thriller I've read before - the plot follows a teenage girl Greer Mcdonald who is an outcast at her new boarding school, S.T.A.G.S, an old medieval like school who pride themselves on their history. Things change when Greer is unexpectedly invited for a weekend away with the most popular boy. A tradition they say, when three students are invited every year for huntin', shooting', and fishing'...
The story is written in first person from the point of view of the protagonist Greer McDonald. She is quite a likeable and relatable character along with her friends Shafeen and Chanel. Their personalities are quite different, making the book more interesting. In contrast, I like how the group of popular students, called the Medievalists, come across as innocent yet sinister at the same time.
I though the story started off quite slow but once I got past the beginning, I couldn't put it down! The book was well written to create the feeling of uneasiness and isolation for both the protagonists and audience. I do also think that it gives the message that some things need to change, and that tradition doesn't always necessarily mean it is a good thing. My only criticism is that I wish is was written in third person as some events were not witnessed by Greer so not much detail could be put in at the point of action.
