This book turned out to be nothing like I thought it would, and I'm definitely glad about that.
I adore the style in which this book is written. The foreshadowing was great, I love that there was always something small that sparked my suspicion to what was really going on at Longcross and that it was weaved into the story in a way that you may not necessarily pick up on it.
I was sure by the last chapter of this book that things were going to be just fine. It sure did seem that way and why wouldn't it be? But then there was the epilogue and with it, a cliffhanger that you're certain isn't good. This book had an ending I did not expect. My suspicions of a certain character were calmed by the certainty of the main characters but then that was completely shattered. When I finished the book I thought I should be mad at the ending because there was no conclusion, the story merely stops and the cycle could happen again, but I actually enjoyed the ending a lot as I think it was quite clever.
I'm glad I picked this book up because I had trouble putting it down and that always says something good about a story.
