This book is really easy to read, it'sdark, gothic, yet well written and an enjoyable read despite the grim and menacing plot.
There aren't a lot of characters in the book so it's easy to keep track, and also to begin to care about then, despite the book being quite short.
Richard and his wife, Juliette, move to Starve Acre with their young son, Ewan. And that's when it all begins to go dreadfully wrong. Ewan dies....Richard grieves his loss but Juliette still feels his presence, as if he's still around. Visits to a time before Ewan died give us glimpse into his life, what sort of child he was, and how his parents have since struggled with their grief....and then the ending which was a shocker, to say the least!
Read and enjoy :)
