Not my cup of tea
For a first sneak peek of the book it took a while for the story to get going and it began with a very long and drawn out description of the setting of where the characters lived. I understand what the author was trying to do but without any context it seemed to drag on a bit too long.
We can tell the main characters Richard and Juliette have gone through a terrible tragedy of losing their son But I struggled to relate to their character and really see their emotions.
In addition to this I don’t understand why Richard is digging around for the roots of a tree and I’m sure this would become apparent as the book progressed but it really didn’t grab my attention.
Unfortunately I wouldn’t be rushing out to buy this book.
