Richard and Juliette move to Starve Acre with their five year old son Ewan. The house on the moors which should have been a happly place surrounded by folk lore becomes sad. Juliette needs help so a group known as The Beacons are called in.

This book turned out to be totally different to what I was expecting. With the creepy cover and premise I was expecting a tale of a haunted house and ghost hunters. For me this book just spilled over with grief.

The story certainly had it's moments with the descriptions of the area and the folklore stories, which for me were the best bits. The rest of the story I did find quite strange. Not a lot really happens for most of the book but the story does pick up towards the end. For me I just wanted to know about Ewan and what happened.

First time for me to read this author. Although I'm left feeling a little disappointed I would read another book by this author. The book wasn't as creepy as I thought it would be.
