The story is very atmospheric and has a Gothic feeling about it. The writing style was beautifully discriptive without hampering the pace of the story.
It begins with two parents trying to cope with the tragic loss of their young son, Ewan. The father burying himself in work, while his wife retreats into herself, never leaving the house and barely living. Desperate to make contact with Ewan again she has found a group who claim they can make contact with the dead. Alarmed by the prospect her husband and newly arrived sister try to talk her out of the idea, but the date is set and she will not back down.
The small preview set the story up well, and I'm intrigued to find out what's going to happen and how it will all play out in the end.
