So, this is a story about parents dealing with the grief of losing their child. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t...that.

Without giving away any spoilers, the basic outline of the story is this: Richard and Juliette are reeling from the loss of their young son, Ewan. They are both coping in very different ways, Richard throws himself into his work to keep him busy and Juliette turns to the occult, naturally.

I’m finding it quite difficult to put my thoughts into words because the book kinda left me feeling a bit...meh. Don’t get me wrong, it was a decent story, the writing was great and the concept was really interesting but I felt quite unfulfilled at the end. If the intention was to leave readers feeling frustrated at the characters then it definitely hit the mark.
