This is a dark and creepy story which required a lot of inagination. The history of the house and the area also feeds into the book. It's a reasonably a short book which meant I didn't feel much connection to the characters, felt very disconnected comparedto other books. Although their story is sad due to the loss of their son, I didn't really feel I understood what was going on and still a little unsure even after finishing. It was all a little bit odd for me and seemed rather rushed (my opinion only). I'm happy to read paranormal type books but I think maybe a little too much was left to the imagination. I didn't hate this book but didn't love it either. Although I have been told his previous books are great.
