This seems like an interesting read and a look at history that I don't have much knowledge of - my historical knowledge of Germany is fairly limited to the war, so it is interesting to read from a later perspective, surrounding the split between East and West Germany. I am intrigued by the mystery/thriller aspect of this, although I haven't read any of the first four books in the series following this detective. I don't imagine it will have too negative an impact.
