I like the cover of the book, and it is refreshing to read from a female protagonist's perspective. I did, however, find it difficult to get connect with the characters, given that this book is part of a series.
The historical context made things interesting, although I hope there is a glossary of key words in the book somewhere, as my German is rudimentary at best.Thankfully, having a rudimentary understanding of communism did help in some regard. I feel that, even if the book isn't 100% accurate, I would learn more about events and society in Eastern Germany during this period.
I would be happy to read more of this book; indeed, I would be happy to start at the beginning of the series and read them in order, but the quality of the previous books would colour my decision to buy this one.
