My first impression is 'this book looks wordy and heavy going'. I don't find the cover particularly engaging either, but I decided to read the extract and give it a chance. I know - don't judge books on covers! I didn't finish the extract because there is too much description for me, as well as second person. The font is poor too. I know this sounds petty, but it was uncomfortable to read, as well as disengaging. Pity, because the narrative sounds promising...just not for me.
