I do not know much about German politics or the Cold War but I know that this story takes place in a divided Germany during the last years of the 1970`s. It also has the bad weather conditions at the time as a backdrop of the story, and all this adds to the atmosphere of what is mainly a murder suspense thriller. There is something to be learned from this story and it has awakened my interest in Germany of that period in history.
The story begins when a woman is found dead while she was thought to have been out shopping.
