I only received this book a couple of days ago but since page one I have not been able to put this book down....even reading into the wee small hours. The author gets you gripped between the pages as you try to unravel what is happening. Set in the grips of the worst winter that Germany has ever known Karin muller works for the police but really wants to be a school teacher...having children herself she wants a better life...but in 1978 the Stasi are the law...and no one dare go against them for fear if death. The stasi has a strong hold over Muller and as she lives in a state owned home she knows that her and her family could easily be thrown out onto the streets and the cold harsh realities that go with that do not appeal. We follow Muller and her colleagues as they try to unravel a murder in a small town that is not all as it seems...
