This is the fifth ‘Stasi’ book featuring Karin Muller. I enjoyed the previous 4 so much that I had no hesitation in using my points to secure an advanced copy of Stasi Winter.

I’m not exactly sure why but I didn’t enjoy this book at all and gave up on it half way through.

Perhaps the setting - Eastern Germany in the 1970s - which was so unusual for a modern book has now become a bit old hat with all the espionage and counter espionage becoming rather boring. Perhaps it’s because the story didn’t involve Karin’s immediate family and their everyday lives which I so enjoyed reading about in the earlier books.

I think that, as far as I’m concerned, the Stasi books have outlived my interest.
