Another excellent read. In this latest installment, set in the coldest winter seen in the DDR, Karin Muller, having resigned, is looking to start a different career. However, just as she is applying to teach at the Police College, she is told that by leaving the police she could lose her accommodation. So her circumstances change and she stays in the police and is once again drawn into a murder investigation on the Island of Rugen. She recognises the victim as someone she dealt with a few years before whilst investigating another murder there. The story touches on some people's desire to leave the republic, risking life and limb to get out and the lengths the security forces go to to stop this happening. An enjoyable read.
