This is actually the first book I have read from David Young and did see it was book 5 before I started, so I was a little worried I wouldn’t follow the story. Whilst there are elements that obviously are dealt with in the prequels, I had no trouble following the story and the characters as they were introduced. It certainly can be enjoyed as a single standalone story.
I enjoyed the book, although I was looking forward to the police enquiry aspect which was dealt with, it was more of a thriller dealing with the lives of the two main characters. The book was imaginatively written and drew you into the lives of the characters and the surroundings. There are some elements that appeared a little far fetched and as the book focused on different characters it can get confusing as to which character I was reading about, but it was a great read and I look forward to seeing what else the author offers.
