A gripping book that really pulls you in and does not let you know until the end, and then leaves you wishing there were more pages. I've never read anything by this author before but will definitely be keeping an eye out now, as historical fiction is one of my favourite genres. A great weekend read in a bleak British winter, with a candle burning, a blanket and a cup of hot coffee. The mystery element is a true page turner, and you keep reading to fin out what happened. Karin Muller is such a well formed and believable character, and author David Young does so well in bringing her to life in the pages as the story unfolds. The ominious Stasi of 1978, with their grip over everyone and the murder that needs to be solved are all key elements to this wonderful, sometimes terrifying but always wonderful, novel.
