I must admit this is not my normal read but as the story progressed I found I couldn’t wait until I could pick the book up again and find out how the story was progressing.
I wasn’t familiar of the events of 1970’s Germany, so I found this aspect of the novel was very informative.
Starting with the murder of a women who it is thought had been out shopping, it soon became clear there was much more to the death than was first thought.
The detectives arrive to investigate the murder and the story becomes more involved, with it developing into an escape to a safe country for the young people concerned.
Set in the middle of winter, with severe weather conditions it all added to the atmosphere of the novel.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. A real page turner.
