It took me a while to get into this book, as it did not grip me from the start. I dipped in and out of it over a period of time and then suddenly I seemed to be in the right frame of mind to read this and managed to finish it over a few days. It was definitely not a book I would devour in one sitting and wasn't a book that you could easily escape into. Right from the start I gathered that this was part of a series regarding Major Karin Muller. The author did refer to previous cases but it was still difficult to grasp the storyline at times. I also found it confusing with the different names and kept becoming confused on who was who. The glossary at the end of the book was informative, but I would have preferred to have this as the index as didn't realise there was one until I had finished the book! I felt that Karin was a character that I did not emphasise with. Sometimes she seemed to be quite a strong person and other times, she was crying on issues which I felt were minor. I enjoyed the book but did not love it and would not read any others in the series.
