Oh dear, this is the kind of book that makes me feel very old. I don't get the cultural references and the writing style (I use the term loosely) grates. I have no interest in the characters and what happens to them. However I'm sure it is precisely targeted at a particular age group and will probably get positive reviews. Unfortunately if Readers First insist on featuring largely children's, MG or YA books then I'm afraid they'll continue to get first impressions like this one from me. I live in hope of being able to use my points to claim an adult fiction book, ideally some time this decade.
