I received this as an ARC and was a bit dubious ( I do not normally like Rap music) as not my normal genre of reading. But I absolutely loved this book I couldn’t put it down once I had started it. Even though I am a lot older than the target audience I really could relate to it. School days can be hard if you don’t fit in immediately and that has always been the case. I love how Sean a.k.a. MC growls does not give up and still tries to impress the girl he likes. We don’t all have endless resources we can rely on and yes parents can be embarrassing and his best mate did find it hard to cope. But Sean never gave up on his friend and found another ally his age who didn’t know his background and loved having him as a friend regardless. The fact that Sean was not judgemental helped their relationship grow. Sean never gave up on his dreams although he came close to it and in the end it was was worth all the hard work.
