I am getting into historical fiction and I'm finding that I'm a lot pickier with this genre. I can either love the story or I don't connect with it at all. Unfortunately this was a story that I didn't connect with. The story seemed like a strange disconnected sequence of events, but this could be down to the translation. Despite this the writing style was beautiful. The pacing was very slow and the story didn't seem to lead anywhere which isn't too my preference. The cover was not to my taste but suited to the genre.
