The opening to this book I found really sad. The narrator talks about his childhood and the troubled relationship he has with his mother and father whilst he was growing up, which made me feel sorry for him. I really warmed to him when he talked about when he saved the goat from the thunder storm which has made me want to continue reading the rest of the book.
