Topic interests me but first impression was like reading a textbook.

I read quite a few novels set around WWII and I was tempted by the premise of Stella which sounded like it had potential to be powerful and compelling. The first impression disappointed me though as I found the writing quote sterile and more akin to reading a textbook. It lacked emotion and didn’t inspire me to want to read more.
