This is not the type of book i would usually go for but the blurb did make it sound interesting and i am always up for trying something new as you never no what you are going to like if you dont try things.
The story is about a young man Friedrich. It starts in gis childhood with his very pushy mother who didnt make it as an artist so she is pushing her dream on her son. However after a nasty accident it looks like that is not going to be possible and his mother is not happy. However Friedrich doesn’t give up easily. Later as he becomes a man he decides to travel to berlin in 1942 in the middle of the second world war still dreami g of becoming an artist. Here he meets Kristen who is not all she seems to be and its clear from the beginning she is hiding things.
Over all i liked the story but i did find it hard to read. I really liked the beginning of each chapter where it starts a new month and there is a news report with what is going on in the world at that time
