This is not the normal type of book I would read but I do enjoy reading wartime novels. This story was well written and an easy read. The structure of how it is written was different and I really enjoyed it, I liked that each chapter was the beginning of a new month accompanied by a news report. Definitely not seen anything like it but it was a great way to add more about what was happening at the time around the characters and their story.
The characters were great and also quite complex with a lot of emotion throughout the book but that made it a good read. However, there were things at the start of the book that added context and personality to the characters but was not continued throughout the book which left me hanging slightly.
I do think, however, that looking at the book as a whole, it was a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes wartime novels.
