I didn't enjoy this book. It didn't flow, it was like reading random pieces of a larger story. The historical facts felt like they were there to justify the story but in reality didn't really enhance the story line between the main characters. The romance in the book felt very stilted and it pettered out as quickly as it began with out anything really happening.
The main character was relatively well developed in his early years but there is zero growth in his character once he goes to Berlin. He comes across as a very weak character
And Stella is a dislikeable character who displays no qualities that would cause him to fall for her. Indeed there are more instances described that make it feel like he doesn't like her very much at all.
It's a book that I genuinely considered not finishing which is very unlike me
