This book tells the story of a man who travels to Germany in the search for answers, finding love and betrayal along the way.
They book was slightly disappointing - it read well but there was no particular substance to it. What was made out to be important context in the beginning never reappeared after the first few chapters. For instance, I would have liked to have seen if Friedrich developed his love for painting, and whether his colour blindness had an effect on his life in Germany.
There were also a number of things implied, but I would have liked a bit more explanations on these things.

I have to say, I did not find any of the characters particularly likeable either. Stella was manipulative and demeaning, never really showing real affection to Friedrich, and Friedrich seemed to ignore every red flag and just let her use him.

This book was readable, and I did find parts of it interesting, but overall, it was a bit of a let-down.
