I’ve finished “Stella” 📖
Having read the first few chapters in a sneak preview of this book I was instantly drawn in to the main character Fitz’s early life. My expectation was that the story was to a love story with a lady “Stella” he met whilst travelling during the war conflicts. After reading the full book I can say; The book is about their relationship but I don’t think I’d call it an “emotional” love story. It was an easy short read (not so detailed on history which I was slightly dissatisfied as I was interested in learning more about) but the book did keep my interest throughout.
The character Stella is based on a true character in history, within the story there are extracts from history and the real life trial however they just sudddenly appeared without any reasoning half way through the story, so seemed a bit detached from the main plot.
I think the book could have been more interesting and could easily have been extended with more detailed information of, Stella, her role in the war and her early years - given the book’s title!
I’d recommend and bonus it’s only 200 pages!
