Mixed feelings about this one. I did enjoy the story and it was well written in the sense that despite the heavy content it was quite an easy reader and I got through it pretty quickly. It started off really well as I was really intrigued by Freidrich's early family life, however once he moved to Germany his mother wasn't really mentioned much and the Dad seemed to change character. Where I was a bit disappointed was that it gave away on the back that Stella/Kristin was hiding something and it was quite obvious what her secret was from pretty early on in the book. I would have liked to have had a bit more suspense. I did enjoy reading at the end that the character of Stella was based on a real person, I wasn't aware of this while I was reading and would like to find out more. Overall, I found this worth a read and quite enjoyable but it had the potential to be a bit better.
