This book was an extremely enjoyable read. The main Character was very likeable and and immediately engaged with his story. Growing up in Switzerland with his problematic mother he suffers a trauma to his face which leaves him colourblind and moulds his personality for the rest of his life. In pursuit to make his ever distancing mother, he travels to war riddled, nazi over run Berlin to take up art classes to find “the truth”. What he found there was deceit and corruption and a horrific round up of the Jewish population. He also found Kristin or later revealed Stella. A Jewess Jew catcher. I’m order to save herself and her family from being taken away she informed on other Jewish family’s hiding all over Berlin. The fast paced whirlwind romance captured my attention. I really enjoyed this book. So much so I read it in less than 24 hours. It is very much worth the read and a nice love story told from the male perspective!
