I love the premise of this book. A dark retelling of a well loved classic Cinderella where the female protagonist is not a stereotypical delicate and gorgeous damsel in distress. This immediately piqued my interest. The dramatic irony in the prologue built suspense immediately keeping my hooked from the very first page. The dynamic between the mother and the main character also seems like a very interesting and well developed relationship that I am really excited to read about!
The cover is also very eye catching. I love the shattered glass and the blood dripping from the letters. That paired with the dark cover immediately tells me that the story will be grim and compelling. The quote ‘pretty is dead long live the ugly’ is also controversial, sets the tone and makes the reader want to pick up the book.
