This books takes place after Cinderella is whisked off to the palace, leaving her step-sisters with bloody feet, in debt and the whole town hating them. The story follows Isabelle, one of the step-sisters. She is ugly and doesn't fit into societies' ideals. Instead, she is brave, strong and everything the world has told her not to be. Does she stand a chance to change the fate that is seemingly destined to be?

I loved this book. It showed the journey and struggles of Isabelle and the problems that turned her cruel. It is inspiring to see that beauty doesn't mean what is shown on the outside, but rather what's on the inside.

I especially liked the close relationship between Isabelle and her sister Tavi. The characters are strong and likeable. The writing style flowed, with interweaving stories from a battle between Fate and Chance that added well to the overall story. However, I did find some scenes were hard to get into.

Overall, a nice twist on the classic Cinderella. It is a positive book that challenges the expectations of women.
