Wow, where to begin?

Firstly, lets talk about the cover page; it's striking and quite beautiful, showing the iconic glass shoe, fragmented and shattered. Personally, it already showed how this novel would not directly mirror the Disney style of production, which I loved.

The message within this book is one of high value and truly resonates with many people, especially compared with the fairytale version. By showing how they all are affected by looks and prioritise how they are seen by others rather than how they see themselves, it reflects modern society and highlights the flaws in this system making it highly relatable.

Overall, Jennifer Donnelly's writing has me spellbound and completely entranced. I absolutely ADORE how she presents Isabelle, she doesn't sugarcoat nor attempt to present her as kind or misunderstood; she is indeed awful to Ella, yet we see her understand the punishment for her actions, making her much more human and truly drew me to her character.
