Brilliant
I absolutely loved this! The opening is great, the blurb is honest and you know straight away that it will be a re-imagining of the Cinderella story, however it starts in a completely different setting to really give the book a unique feel.
There are elements of traditional story telling style mixed with the author's own writing style that make for a very good flow and easy reading. I couldn't believe how quickly I flew through the opening chapters.
The sense of empathy created for the character of Isabella is handled really well, I really did look at her character with a different perspective and I hadn't expected to.
The character of the step-mother is written brilliantly as if anything she is even more sinister in this version of the story.
