We all know and adore the classic tale of Cinderella but what about the ugly sisters story? Well this is where their story begins with a retelling of the fairytale and as I started reading, I realised that I enjoyed this tale far better than I had anticipated.
Stepsisters is in a league of its own and the way Jennifer Donnelly expresses these characters is not for the faint-hearted. With a mother who endorses cutting off heels and toes so one of her daughter's feet may fit into the slipper gives this book a real twist. But this story is not just about Ella (Cinderella) but about the journey of one of the stepsisters, Isabelle, and her discovery of her own unique identity, however there is also rivalry. Chance and Fate have other plans.
