The book is written in a style evocative of fairy-tales, which fits the story perfectly, and adds a haunting layer to the prose. The book shows the harm that pigeonholing people can do, and how the only solution is to try to break free from the moulds we are given.
Isabelle is a sympathetic character, and though the book never excuses her past cruelty, it gives us reasons, and allows us to see how circumstances and outside pressures have shaped all three of the sisters.
The resolution to the game between Fate and Chance was particularly satisfying, as was the way that Isabelle's past trials served to help her at the book's climax.
The metaphor of the wolf that carried through the book was well done, and an apt way of expressing the restlessness and longing in Isabelle's heart.
Overall, a book I would highly recommend to anyone who feels dissatisfied with their circumstances.
