A great retelling of cinderella, written from the point of view of one of her stepsisters. It gave the villains more depth and reasoning behind the actions. It follows the stepsister Isabelle and tells us of her forbidden love, cruel mother and her relationship with her sisters. The book helps redeem her character and allows her to try and escape her fate in order to find love and happiness. The book is darker than the usual fairytale and has few descriptions of violence and the romance is clean. Rather than painting Isabelle as evil and Cinderella as good, it shows they both have faults of their own and that they aren’t the black and white characters they are normally perceived as. The book allows to take a deeper look into their past, to see why things turned out the way they did, and how the can change for the better. This book has a theme of fate and luck threaded throughout, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :)
