‘Here are the things girls die of: hunger, disease, accidents, childbirth, and violence. It takes more than heartache to kill a girl. Girls are tough as rocks.’

This book was gorgeous!!! The writing style was beautifully poetic, the premise exciting and was completely enthralling form the very beginning. It follows Isabelle, one of Cinderella’s ugly stepsisters and her attempts to heal her heart after Cinderella leaves with her prince.
I thought it was a brilliant concept. The exploration of villains and their backstory will never fail to excite me, especially as we begin to learn that Isabelle was never even a villain.
The story is unashamedly feminist every step of the way. There is a romantic plot line but it is never made the centre of the story or portrayed as all Isabelle needs. It explores concepts of sisterhood and forgiveness as well.
I loved it so much - please read!!
