Everything about this book is beautiful. The cover, the writing, the characters.
Retelling the classic fairy tale Cinderella from the perspective of Isabelle, one of the ugly stepsisters is genius and it is unlike anything I’ve read before.
Presenting ideas of nonconforming girls in the eighteenth century who didn’t fit the mould of the perfect girl and them realising that they don’t have to be.
A story of forgiveness, confidence and paving your own future, this book is one everyone should read.
Each of the characters were unique, relatable and dimensional. The portrayal of sisters, although not a large portion of the book, felt very important.
The fantasy element of this - as a non fantasy reader - was amazing! Not confusing or overwhelming but well written and intriguing throughout. I loved the characterisation of Chance!
