My sort of fairytale
Thank you readers first for the chance to read step sister by Jennifer Donnelly in return for an honest review.
Now, I’ve never been a big fan of fairytales, even as a young girl the thought of a prince saving a defenceless young lady made me cringe and I have preferred my own daughters watch princess films like Brave to give them a true sense of what girls can achieve. That’s why I am so glad Jennifer Donnelly ripped up the script and gave us girls an imperfect, strong and true heroine for once!
I adored every detail of this story from the fates and chance to the war raging around Isabelle and her family to (cinder) Ella’s own imperfections and insecurities.
I got lost in the backward fairytale world that the author so deftly created and didn’t want the book to end. I hope she rewrites ALL the soppy princess stories 😁
