I read this book when I was younger but still love it today due to the beautiful writing and inspiring messages within it. The style of writing is enchanting and engaging and includes some beautiful metaphors which in my opinion completely capture certain aspects of life in words. As a reader, seeing Isabelle go on a journey and slowly capture the missing pieces of her heart is heartwarming and since the character becomes so personal and real to the reader you almost feel a sense of pride for Isabelle.
I love how the author has drawn from many different versions of Cinderella to create her own uplifting feminist version of the well-known tale. In addition, I appreciate how in the story Isabelle doesn't grow as a person by bringing down Ella or any other person instead her main obstacle is herself and through her journey of self discovery and hearing the stories of the people around her she realizes she isn't as isolated from everyone else as she thought she was.
