First, I love retellings. But I didn't know how much I could love the Stepsister of cinderella before reading this.

Her character was just so real, so relatable that I couldn't help but root for her throughout. And then the aspect of fantasy, I loved how whimsical it all was.

Chance, in all his glory, and Fate, the old crone, also had me on the edge of my sweet, the way they manipulated the characters, changed the situation. I loved it all!!

I would highly reccomend this book to any reader. It is complex and simple at the same time, the nuances of human nature, the ugly nature also highlighted as a point.

And I didn't expect the feminism aspect either. It was a pleasant surprise, how the character development involved that, and how Chance made her see that, the play he and his people did for her, the description and the depiction of all the feminist icons. It's what made this a 5 star for me!
