I loved the premise of this book - fairytale retellings are my favourite! - but it didn't completely live up to expectations. The characters were interesting, but I found the story quite slow and it took a while for anything to really happen.
The plot was unique, and kept me engaged enough to be interested in what was going to happen yet. However, it would definitely have benefitted from moving along a little faster!
Isabelle is obviously a flawed character, but I felt that she was actually quite confusing. Often her behaviour in one scene didn't make sense with her behaviour in another, and that didn't feel very genuine to me.
Overall, the book was fine and a harmless way to pass a few hours. However, I won't rush to read it again.
